MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE is a black comedy-drama about Merritt (Sonicua Martin-Green), a US Army veteran in Afghanistan who is at loggerheads with her family over the presence of Zoe (Natalie Morales), her deceased friend. . best friend from the army. Despite the persistence of her veterans counselor (Morgan Freeman), the tough love of her mother (Gloria Reuben), and the frivolity of an unexpected love interest, Merritt’s cozy and unsuccessful friendship with Zoe keeps the couple isolated from the world. This continued until the estranged grandfather Merritt (Ed Harris), locked in the family ancestral home on the lake, began to get lost and began to need the only thing he refused… help. At its core, this is a film about friends, complicated friendships, separated families, and how difficult it is to deal with grief.
